Chiropractic Adjustments FAQ

Young boy getting back adjustment

If you're looking for a chiropractor in the South Lake Union and the larger Seattle area, odds are good that you are suffering from neck pain, back pain, shoulder pain, or knee pain. Fortunately, there is chiropractic care servicing Capitol Hill and First Hill residents that can treat all of these issues.

Of course, if you have never visited our office before, it's perfectly normal for you to have a lot of questions. While our team will take the time to answer all of them, we have found that it helps to answer some of our most common questions before you get to the office. Read on to learn about the frequently asked questions Capitol Hill Chiropractic receives from patients.

How Does Chiropractic Care Work?

Chiropractic care focuses on moving the muscles around your spine and neck. This is done through a series of small movements that will feel like small pushes on your back. Chiropractic care is based on the principle that a spine that is out of alignment will cause the surrounding muscle tissue to become inflamed, aggravating the nerves and causing them to send pain signals to the brain. By moving the muscles that have been aggravated, the spine will eventually move back into place and the pain will stop.

Does the Chiropractor Move My Spine?

No. The chiropractor will only move the muscles around your spine. Over time, this will encourage the spine to move back into a normal, healthy position. The spine is never forced to move by a chiropractor.

Does Chiropractic Care Hurt?

Hardly ever. In some rare cases, patients will report feeling like they went to the gym when they wake up the next morning. More commonly, though, patients tell us that they feel a lot better when they leave our office. Remember that the chiropractor will only make small movements; only your muscles will move, not your bones.
